I had the chance to talk with LMST, where he opened up about his journey and the meaning behind “Satellite.” Our conversation spanned from South Korea to the United States, where he shared his struggles, triumphs, and what he hopes listeners will take away from his music.
“Staying positive isn’t easy,” LMST shared. “If you lose focus even for a second, anxiety and negative thoughts can quickly take over. In the past, those feelings scared me, made me feel small, and led to more worry. It was like I was obsessed with the idea that anxiety and negativity had no place in my life.”
In “Satellite,” LMST explores the search for answers. He compares it to a satellite quietly orbiting in the dark sky. “When we’re living our daily lives, sometimes we find ourselves asking a lot of questions,” he reflects. “I tried to find answers that I didn’t know, but I couldn’t, and it felt like I was drifting further away.”
One night, unable to sleep during a hot summer, LMST decided it was time to make a change. “Even though I didn’t have a clear way forward, I decided to focus on each moment in my daily life and look for answers.”
This self-reflection eventually led to the creation of “Satellite.” However, the journey wasn’t easy. “After releasing my last album, the time before this new one felt like a huge challenge. I didn’t want to do anything, and I was overwhelmed by the fear that nothing I did would be noticed. On top of that, work stress left me with little energy for LMST.”

Despite these challenges, LMST stayed patient, reminding himself, “This too shall pass.” He kept up a regular exercise routine and stayed disciplined, waiting for inspiration to return. That moment finally came with “Satellite,” and now he’s preparing for his upcoming EP, “Mystery Box,” set to release at the end of the year.
